Retinal Haemorrhage in Newborns in Tertiary Care Hospital

Background Retinal haemorrhage in new-born is a clinically common neonatal fundus condition. Although, it usually does not affect the development of visual function, entities like macular haemorrhages may lead to amblyopia causing deterioration function. Such scenario leads downgrade quality life affected child.
 Objective To explore underlying clinical factors associated with retinal term new-borns.
 Method A cross sectional study was conducted involving 136 neonates admitted intensive care unit Dhulikhel Hospital. Fundus examination performed within 2 weeks delivery. graded according their location three zones.
 Result Out cases examined, 44 (32.35%) had one eyes haemorrhage. Where grade 1 accounted majority cases. Birth weight, gestational age, mode delivery, poor Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration (APGAR) Score 5 minutes, birth asphyxia, sepsis heavy work antenatal period statistically significant correlation occurrence haemorrhage.
 Conclusion Our results suggest that spontaneous vaginal larger higher low score, are risk for It recommended above high-risk should undergo targeted screening early identification needful interventions.
